What is a health care proxy?

A health care proxy is a third person that is appointed by statute to make medical decisions on your behalf in the event that the medical attendant determines that you are unable to give an informed consent as to your own medical treatment. We can override what the statute says by completing what we call in Florida, a designation of health care surrogate.
